The Ai Weiwei Voice Gem was created as part of the VOICE GEMS project using a voice recording of Ai Weiwei in conversation with a friend and collaborator. VOICE GEM #1137 Named Finalist for Lumen Prize Awards

The "Voice of Hiroshima Survivor Trees" VOICE GEM has been selected as a finalist for two Lumen Prize awards, a prestigious recognition in the art and technology world. This Voice Gem is unique, with its color and form generated not from a human voice but from the voice of a special tree. The sounds captured by Philip Clemo using a specialized microphone reveal the internal movements of this tree, recorded exactly 75 years after the Hiroshima bomb's devastating impact.

‘Kẻ Chợ’ Premiered at Hanoi Opera House Hanoi Festival of Creative Design 2024

Trung Bao performed at the opening ceremony of the Hanoi Festival of Creative Design 2024, showcasing the innovative and creative spirit of his home city. Held at the iconic Hanoi Opera House, the event featured his new piece, Kẻ Chợ, a stunning collaboration with NSND Minh Chí (chèo drum), NSƯT Nguyễn Đức Mười (tuồng drum), and the ASP choir. Physical VOICE GEMS

Last year we began a journey looking to turn laughter between lovers into a physical artwork created from 3D printed silver. The journey ended with a dear friend @_elfin_ polishing the piece and completing the very first prototype.

Voice Gems was commissioned for a wedding as a way to honor the memory of the bride’s late father. Trung Bao participated in a public talk with Anna Szylar (Monster Mind Studio, PL) titled “A Survey of New Media Showcases,” sharing insights into organizing art exhibitions in a digital context using modern technology. Part of the third EU-Vietnam Sustainable Design Awards (EVSDA) workshop, themed Exploring Sustainable New Media, the event ran from December 11-15, 2024, in a heritage French villa in Hanoi. The EVSDA project, initiated by the EU Delegation, promotes sustainable design practices and community development in Vietnam, contributing to the country’s inclusive sustainable growth.

Voice Gems Live

The Live Voice Gems Particle System is an immersive, real-time art installation that transforms the human voice into a dynamic, ever-evolving digital ecosystem. Leveraging advanced audio analysis and generative design, the system captures the unique qualities of a live vocal input—pitch, tone, volume, and rhythm—and translates them into a mesmerizing flow of particles. Each vocal nuance generates distinct visual behaviors, with particles clustering, dispersing, and shifting in color and form based on the speaker's voice profile. The resulting display resembles a living, reactive environment, where every soundwave creates a fleeting sculpture, momentarily crystallized in space. This interactive system bridges the ephemeral nature of sound with the permanence of visual art, creating a captivating experience that celebrates the individuality and impermanence of the human voice.

‘voidis’ exhibited in Ho Chi Minh City

‘voidis’ is a new artwork installation created by Fustic., directed by Trung Bao. The inspiration for voidis stems from curiosity about the contrast between “existence” and “non-existence” — specifically, between life and the void. In this piece, photogrammetry technology is used to collect data from a tree, which is then combined with generative digital technology. The tree, a symbol of life, is deconstructed into small, movable, and transformable elements, representing life’s adaptation and persistence within an indefinite space. Despite the surrounding darkness, the artwork aims to convey a sense of tranquility, where life drifts quietly and harmoniously with the uncertainty of the void.

Trung Bao was invited to perform alongside Diva Lê Hồng Nhung at the concert “Hồng Nhung hát về Hà Nội” held at Nhà hát Hồ Gươm. The performance blended iconic Hanoi melodies with modern hip-hop sounds and elements, creating a fresh and captivating musical experience. Lê Hồng Nhung, a prominent figure in Vietnam’s pop music scene since the 1990s, is renowned for her association with the songs of Trịnh Công Sơn and is celebrated as one of the “four divas of Vietnam.”

Re.imagine Concert Vol.1 Debut

Re.imagine is a classical concert series that takes classical music beyond its traditional settings by integrating it with new media technologies and cross-disciplinary methods. Re.imagine was founded by violinist Nguyễn Thiện Minh alongside Trung Bảo, Hải Doãn, and Nam Lê, the founders of Fustic., to challenge the perception of classical music as rigid and inaccessible. The team is dedicated to preserving the beauty and historical richness of classical music while innovating its presentation to resonate with modern audiences, without altering its essence.

VTV Features Voice Gems

Voice Gems was recently featured on VTV3, Vietnam’s national TV channel. The mini-documentary revealed fresh footage and highlighted our latest progress. It was my first time speaking about the project in my native language, and having Harry here in Vietnam made it even more special. While this is an international collaboration, we are passionate about using art and creative technology to give voice to bring focus and celebrate voice of the unheard from diverse cultures. Bringing this project to Vietnam feels like a natural evolution, and I’m looking forward to sharing more updates with you soon.

The "Ve Kinh Bac" liveshow, directed and produced by the artist Ngô Hồng Quang, is a vibrant celebration of traditional Vietnamese music, showcasing modern arrangements and performances. TIME100 Most Influential People in AI

It was an honor for me to collaborate once again with my long-term partner, Reeps100, and contribute to the art direction for the opening performance of TIME 100's most influential people in AI, hosted at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. Together, we premiered a new piece that combined human and machine voices, representing one of our many visual systems. In this performance, Reeps100 engaged in a duet and friendly competition with an AI opponent at 190BPM, showcasing the dynamic interplay between human creativity and artificial intelligence.

R100 x Fox House artist residency

My colleague, Karolina Olech (Chiwawa), and I had the privilege of participating in an art residency program in Spain called the R100 x Fox House. This residency was dedicated to the concept of permission, offering us a unique opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the present moment. Within this nurturing environment, we found the freedom to embrace our authentic selves, free from the usual demands of daily life. Despite the inherent challenge of staying present amidst life's complexities, the tranquil atmosphere of the residency provided us with the space and encouragement to explore the intersection of art, philosophy, technology, and, above all, the collective journey of creative pursuit. Our interactions with fellow artists and thinkers were profoundly enriching, and we are deeply grateful to everyone involved for making this experience so memorable.

Our voice is a reflection of our body and soul. You are invited to observe the artwork and meditate on what it means to have a voice. When the voice is embraced and not avoided, it is a gateway to to self acceptance and confidence. Through the 'Ô' exhibition, in partnership with L’Officiel, Trung Bao and Reeps100 will showcase an audio-visual rendition of Voice Gems, with dimensions of 8000x2000 pixels. Despite the complexity of producing such a work, we believe in harnessing technology and artistic expression to amplify human voices, fostering self-confidence and self-love exploration among viewers.

VOICE GEMS ‘Voice Megastructures’

These behemoth voice structures are generated from 100’s of collected voices colouring and sculpting every detail of the form. The sculptures can be generated from a curated set of global voices addressing a specific theme, or voice data sourced by a geolocation or local radius. Voice Gems will always be a project for large scale physical exhibition, using any means necessary to explore, preserve and illuminate the human voice.

VOICE GEMS has always set sights on digital and physical ceremonial artworks. Last year we began a journey looking to turn laughter between lovers in to a physical artwork created from 3D printed silver. The journey ended with a dear friend @_elfin_ polishing the piece and complete the very first prototype.

VOICE GEMS ‘Astropoeticon’ with Herbert W. Franke

Herbert W. Franke first encountered Harry Yeff’s work in Linz in the summer of 2021. Both were part of the exhibition PROOF OF ART at the Francisco Carolinum in Linz, the first museum to tell the brief history of NFTs. Franke, who was also a caver and rock collector, became interested in Harry Yeff and Trung Bao's work, VOICE GEMS, and soon a collaboration emerged: Yeff asked about the potential of using Franke's voice in an audio-visual production, and Franke responded by sending one of his voice gems, which is a vocal work of art in itself.
